Infant dental care is the foundation on
which a lifetime of preventive dental care is built. Oral examinations,
preventive education, and appropriate treatment when needed,
enhance the child's opportunity for a lifetime of good oral health.
Infant dental care examinations are preventive in nature. They
include medical and dental history, discussion of normal development,
fluoride status, oral habits, injury prevention, and oral hygiene
and diet counseling. The
and the American Dental Association
recommend this initial evaluation by twelve months of age. |
